Thanksgiving Day

Aunt N and Mrs. T

Since we don't have family nearby, my family invited some old friends over for Thanksgiving. Unlike other years, the day was really peaceful and relaxing. It was good to see old friends and to thank God together!

The girls aren't the only ones to check the paper for sales!;-)

Rose and May May

The S girls, R and E, are so cute! They've memorized a couple of books about two crazy sisters, May May and Rose, and acted them out for us. It was so funny!!

I love weekends! I've had another great one!

Yesterday I got to relax, read, clean, hang with friends, and actually get some school work done.

Pictionary was the game of choice again today. This time the teams were JT, JP, and I vs. N, E, DP, DF, and BF. A little uneven you might say, but winning made it pretty sweet.:-D

Later the Ps came over for basketball which we crazily played in 33 degree weather! I'm shivering just thinking about it! It felt like my hands were frozen and I was running uphill at ten thousand feet about sea level!

Because it was cold we finally went inside to play...yup, you guessed it, Pictionary! The expert team comprising of DP and I preceded to knock everyone else off the board to win by a landslide! One notable win was DP drawing and I guessing "civilian." I guess having a dad in the military can be a bonus!;-) Catch Phrase came next and ping pong after that.

Crazy Busy Weekend

Whew, I am so tired! I had an exciting and busy weekend! Saturday was the volleyball tournament. We got there at 8 am and played almost straight to 12 pm. While you're playing you don't feel too bad, but as soon as we finished I felt like taking a nap!;-) My team did really well and missed the finals by two points.:'( We were happy for the hs team winning the tournament, though, 'cause they had worked so hard this year. Just wait until next year!;-)

The Ds came to watch us but got there just as we were done. C's feeling much better and they were glad she proved the doctor wrong when he said she'd be sick for a couple of weeks. She couldn't wait to be able to kiss us again. My dad picked up pizzas and we hung out at the Ds. Man, were we hungry!

After we got home I napped the rest of the afternoon away and only woke up in time for basketball at the gym. I know, I know, I'm crazy...but I couldn't miss it after I had been waiting for it so long! We even got to play more volleyball for awhile.:-)

Yesterday church was at the Paddocks house. After pulling JP and JT away from SAT verbage, we played an awesome game of Pictionary. While Catch Phrase takes first place, Pictionary follows as a close second. The teams were E, JT, and D vs. me, JP, and L who came near the end. I'm happy to announce that my team won! Football took us outside with the teams tying at 5 a piece. Like I said, it was a crazy busy weekend!

Now that my Theo paper is done, I can finally post my pics from my trip! Enjoy!

Cannery Row Posted by Hello

Cannery Row is kinda neat to me because my Great-Grandma used to work there. Before WWII, life was very hard for Japanese people. My grandparents weren't even allowed to own a house. It was against the law. A doctor who was a friend of theirs offered to let them use his name as the owner, so they set it up and proceeded to pay for the house. They scrimped and saved and finally finished paying it off only to have it taken away from them because of the carelessness of the doctor--he had forgotten to transfer it to his name. WWII brought on the discrimination and concentration camps that are forgotten as the years go bye. My Grandpa doesn't talk much about what he and his family went through, so each place and story is a special part of my heritage.

The Price of Freedom Posted by Hello

Though you can't really see them, there is a post and picture for each person who has died in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Walking through there was a proud, but sad moment. Proud because each person had given up all they had to preserve our freedom. Very sad because of a certain post out in front. This young man didn't die in combat, an accident, operation, or even because of the living conditions. He had died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. My first reaction was anger and disgust. A person like that among all those brave soldiers! He doesn't deserve this! Now I can only pity him. Was it worth it? Is life better now?

I am so thankful that I have a God who loves me and will carry me through hard times. I can hold fast to the promise that He will never put me through anything I can't handle. I have no excuse! I must live as a brave soldier of Christ or die trying!

Hungry? Posted by Hello

This place is sooooo good and totally worth what we had to go through to get it! Good things never come easy... Raija had given me good directions, but of course I had to forget them! After driving down a couple of streets, we stopped to ask someone who really didn't know what they were talking. We parked the car and walked around and around. Fortunately while wandering around we found someone with a map who was kind enough to share it with us. Seven blocks later, there it was! Now their specialty is eggs benedict, but all their food is beyond yummy! Thanx for telling me about it, Raija!

It's hard to see, but those rocks out there are totally covered with seals! You could hear them barking when you got on the pier, but you couldn't see them until you got out to the end. They were swimming all around us. Seals are cool, but I think otters are cuter. There was one swimming by the aquarium, but the pic didn't turn out so good. It's too far away.:-(

Paperless At Last!

I'm done with my Theo paper and for the first time in my life, I almost ran out of pg space (though I did end up having a good 6 lines left;-)!!! Thanx to my editors, Heather and JJ, I got done waaaay early! I had a good 9 hours before it was due! It's an awesome feeling. It almost makes up for staying up until 6 am... Anyone wanna celebrate by coming over and playing ping pong??;-)

Jonathan: Dr. Noe, How many students are accepted in PHC per year?

Dr. Noe: All of them.

----------------------

Meredith: Dr. Noe, do you know what percentage of applicants are admitted?

Dr. Noe: 100% of those admitted get into the school.

--------------------

Elisabeth: Does the school have a cap it is shooting for?

Dr. Noe: We don't shoot at caps, sometimes gowns.

Amy: HAA!!

Amy: You're hilarious!

Abigail: lol, you were asking for that one, Elisabeth!

--------------------

Amy: I thought Ibid was a character in Lord of the Rings...

Dr. Noe: No. Ibid is a term from ebay

It's a Girl!

Arianna Sky Reed made her arrival on November 2 just in time for the elections! The proud parents are Matt and Ann Reed. Ann and I have been friends ever since grade school, and I'm so excited for her. I've heard Arianna is just adorable, and I'll be posting pics as soon as I get them!

Be in prayer for Matt as he's with the Army in Fallujah. I'm sure he's missing his wife and daughter just as they're missing him.

Our God is Merciful!

Bush won!!!!!!!!! Four More Years!! *throws confetti*

For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword,
Nor did their own arm save them;
But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance,
Because You favored them.
Psalm 44:3

Go Vote!!!

"...the founders gave life, limb, and property to secure this right for us.
If it wasn't for them we would all have bad teeth and play cricket instead of football. So go vote next time!" -Meredith Shultz

A shout out to Sheri for going the extra mile to make sure her vote was counted. You go girl!!

"I conjure you, by all that is dear, by all that is honorable, by all that is sacred, not only to pray but to act." -John Hancock

Don't You Just Love Our President??

"On his way back to Washington [from voting], he stopped in Columbus, Ohio, and made a few calls from a phone bank. 'I promise you, it's me,' he told one doubter."

LOL! I wish he had called me!!

Proposition 65

There has been some confusion out there as to whether you should vote yes on Prop. 1A or 65. According to the committee and Campaign for California Families (CCF), Prop. 1A is the first version for the protection of local gov't funds. Because the committee decided to add further measures to protect the people, they had to write a whole new proposition, thus Prop. 65. CCF describes Prop. 65 as "...cleaner than and superior to Prop. 1A..." Please vote no on Prop. 1A and yes on Prop. 65!!

Voteness!!!

Get out and vote, vote, VOTE!!!

(but please only do it once ;-)

A Dr. Noe-ism

Dr. Noe: Mustering evidence does not prove a case, it is all in how you handle it.

Me: mmm...I need to save that quote

Dr. Noe: How about, "Mustarding condiments does not prove a case..."

Me: "...improve the taste..."

:-D
