Coffee: Every Student's Lifeline ;-)
And did you know that J. S. Bach wrote a whole "Kaffe Kantate" where a father is trying to persuade his daughter to break her three cups a day habit?? lol... (This fact was sadly omited from my MH&A class!! :-()
Coffee, coffee I must have,
And if someone wishes to give me a treat,
Ah, then pour me out some coffee!
J. S. Bach, 1732

It's amazing how people can grow apart over time. I look back at some of my childhood friends and marvel that we were even close! I bet some country singer has written a song about this... Once in awhile I'll bump into someone I haven't seen in a long time and have a hard time making conversation. You hear about their life, you tell what's happening with you, and then it's the dreaded dead silence. It's not always even that my friends are the ones that have done all the changing. I have changed so much in these past few years that's it not even funny. I totally believe that if I knew back then where'd I'd be today, I'd have freaked out!! I can see God's hand moving in my life and see how those changes in friendships had to come. It still amazes me, though, and I can only praise God for His work in my life!
Snow Day!!

I love snow!! What an absolutely glorious day we had! We only had to drive a 1/2 hour away to get to it, so we played "20 Questions" with the walkie talkies (they're almost as good as CB radios ;-).
After much debate, a snow park was selected and we managed to get in amidst the crowd. They had some perfect hills including a 700 foot one we didn't feel like climbing up. ;-) Instead we settled for the dam by the lake. Let me tell you, sledding can be dangerous!! You'll be going down the hill and some person will just stand there as you almost run them over!! >:-O C and I had to bail once right at some guy's feet. :P The boys actually ran over someone else's sled inches away from the owner himself 'cause for some reason he decided to sit in the middle of the hill as the boys came down. Scary!! I can't tell you how fun it was, though! The sleds my dad got for Christmas are awesome! Slick and fast!
Lunch was a feast that could've filled 1/2 the people there! My dad had the Kings game on the radio, so we also got to listen to at little of that.
After lunch, we found a really steep hill down the trail a little. After a couple of wipeouts, C and I managed to tame that hill! We were quite proud of ourselves. :-D Call us crazy, but we also played football in the snow. Mucho dificil!! Bundled up in snow clothes and deep snow made us an amusing spectacle for the moms to watch. The parents went for a walk (smart people ;-) as us kids had a snowball fight. Some people before us had dug a fort complete with a tunnel underground. Very cool!
The ride home was not any less fun as the moms grabbed snow from the banks as we drove by them, and we proceeded to launch them at each other's cars. Crazy Californians! What they won't do when they're around snow... ;-)

A: Lordship salvation is founded on belief S
B: Dispensationalism is founded on belief Z
C: Beliefs S and Z contradict each other
D: Therefore, lordship salvation and disp. cannot both be believed by the same individual
E: John MacArthur is a disp.
G: Therefore, John MacArthur is either lying when he says he believes in lordship salvation or he is lying when he says he is a disp.
Anyone else seeing the problem?? Thank you, I see those hands out there. :P What annoys me most is his lack of understanding and portrayal of dispensationalism. It's like saying Calvinists are fatalists. I could go on, but I'll spare you. No thanx is needed. G'morning.

What a homebody I'm turning into! In hs, I was out almost every day! Post hs, spring 2005, I now have one weekly activity that takes me outside my house. :-O Yup, you heard me right. One. Who knew I had such hermitage in me! I didn't.
Later
I made a big mistake! Earlier I took a bite of a cookie only to find out it had nuts in it. I took some Benedryl and didn't realize what I had done to myself until nearing the end of dinner when I could barely keep my eyes open. Even after a big cup of coffee full of caffeine, I'm about to collapse on my 'puter. Any mistakes in this paragraph are gonna stay 'cause I'm too tired to click spell check and proofread. So sad, too bad.

Wow, What An Awesome God We Serve!!
"...there are no words in human speech to describe what we saw. It was a 30-foot wall of sea, just bearing down on us like an angry monster. And it was coming at us at such speed, I knew that there was no place on ground where we could be safe. So I knew -- there was something in me that told me that instantly ... we've got to get on top of this wave if... to stay safe.
So I came out, I called out for the children. They all came. We rushed. We had just 10 seconds to get into the boat ... you know, [the wave] had rushed in ... just demolished everything that stood in its path. It came with such force. It just hit both of the garages. The garages just splintered in every direction. It lifted up my Toyota pickup vehicle, my Mitsubishi L-300. We had a three-wheeler, a motor bike. Everything -- it just pulverized.
... when we got into the boat, it was just a few I would say about 15 feet away, and we were eyeball to eyeball with the wave. And immediately, a Scripture popped into my mind. It said, "When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against it."
And I know from there I got the courage. I just stood up in the small boat, and I lifted both my hands and I said, 'I command you in the name of Jesus Christ, on the strength of the Scriptures, that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against him. I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to stand still.'
And I thought I was imagining at the time that the massive wall of water, it stood. It I'm not one given to exaggeration we saw, as if something holding back, some invisible force or hand. It just stood.
[Survivors] said, 'When it got on your land, at one point, it stood still. It just slowed down. And that gave you the chance. What made it? Was it the density of the trees or the buildings?' I said, 'There was no power on Earth that could have held it back but the power of God' I said, 'I called upon God, and I commanded it in the name of Jesus, who 2,000 years ago commanded the waves, and they obeyed. He commanded the sea, and they obeyed. And this is the very same God did the same to us and gave us those precious few seconds that we needed ...'"

If
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Announcement!!

To all you who don't know, Holly Wallace is engaged to Peter Rogers!! W00t!! Y'all have no idea how hard it has been to hold that in for months! :P Their wedding will be on May 20 in Madison, Alabama. More details to come later. ;-)
EDIT: Peter is planning my funeral... Luke, it looks like you'll be able to redeem that outstanding invitation very soon.
Only in a college full of homeschoolers... ;-)
"The Office of Student Life has a brand new pair of black Naturalizer dress shoes, size 8 N, that we are giving to the first young lady who comes by and claims them."
Some of you might not have heard, but a dear friend, Ruth Hunter, passed away last week. She was ready and eager to go! Her memorial service was Saturday afternoon. There were so many of our old friends there. I had forgotten how much I missed those older people. So full of wisdom and experience!
The service itself was kind of disappointing. While her granddaughters gave testimony to their grandmother's life and influence on them (multi-generational influence!), an Invitation was never given!! A couple of times I thought it was going to happen "Wow, awesome link, here it comes!," only to be sadly wrong. I think most of her family are unsaved...what a missed opportunity. :-(
Oh, I also got to see Ray's new car! He handed me the keys, I thought just to look at them. But then he had me get in and turn it on, I was still clueless as to why until he has me buckle up and got in the passenger side. I gotta say, it was pretty cool. Mazda 3s are not too bad. ;-)
That night I watched a Kings game for the first time in a long time! It was awesome, btw. My dad and sister went to the open gym. I missed her best game ever. :-/ J also informed me I should've been there 'cause he couldn't miss. I prolly would've jinxed him anyway.
Sunday was a great day! Church was awesome as usual--at the Ps' house this time. No Pictionary for the first time in weeks. Instead they opted for football. I couldn't play 'cause of my ankle, so I became a permanent blocker for anyone that needed a screen out in the middle of the field. I'm quite good at it, I might add! ;-) C convinced me to play Speed and Go Fish while the others then went on the basketball. The poor girl didn't stand a chance. :-( So we just did little dances, warmed hands, and keep sticky fingers out of J's purse... ;-) Our song with the Ps is almost ready to perform!
Now to today, it was a Monday, enough said. Second winds are great, though. So are great friends who let me complain to them and was ready to cry with me! Y'all are the bestest!!

I went furniture shopping yesterday. Horrible ordeal. You know how hard it is to get six different women to agree on something? Yeah...
Fortunately, dinner was at the Ds' house and the kids took away my headache. I can't even remember C at L's age. It seems like a lifetime ago. They're both so cute and loveable. They'll hug your cares away. Foosball also helped. Winning helped even more. ;-)

Good News, Bad News

Guess who came to visit me! Michelle! It was so cool to see her and talk face to face! I only wish we had more time. She's as sweet in person as she is online! Thanx for the visit Lady M! Please come again!
I'd ask you to guess on this one, but even I didn't see this one coming. Doug Christie was traded to the Orlando Magic. He's been a role model to a lot of us in the way that he treats his family. He and his wife have such a strong relationship. Ever see him raise his left hand during a game? That's his special signal to her. In one game, he raised his hand over 50 times! They are even thinking about making a reality show about them 'cause of the "weirdness" of their relationship. Needless to say, I am so not happy... >:-O :'(

Jeremy's Quiz
(Answer this one if you are a guy) 1a. If you had a choice, would you rather be a giant, flannel-wearing German with a certain fondness for drink (apple juice, of course), a wiry, street-savvy Persian who sells rugs and had a rough childhood, a diminutive islander with a successful third world coconut co-op, a lanky Russian who sells nuclear submarines and has a mysterious scar on his face, or an enigmatic Native America who not only seems immensely wise, but has Eagle friends.
1b. Assuming the character above, what would be your name? (If you are at a loss, I will assign you one in my grade)
(Answer this one if you are a girl) 1. If you had a choice, would you rather be a proper English lady who entertains at her charming English manor, an Aztec princess with pet jaguars who keep off pesky suitors, a Scandanavian Viking maid who sails with her dashing husband Eric all over Canada and the Great Unknown, an only-child Asian farm girl with a retired ninja master as a father, or an Egyptian pharoahess leading her nation through international intrigue and turmoil?
This is so hard! I like my friends too much to have jaguars, unless you're talking about the car kind... Yup, you must be, so I'm picking the Aztec princess!
1b. Assuming the character above, what would be your name? (If you are at a loss, I will assign you one in my grade)

Of course!
Merry, if posting more than once a day is a no, no, I'd have been struck by lightening a long time ago. ;-)

Happenings
Reasoning with a four year old does not work:
Mr. W.: Why won't you let me in the door [that keeps kids from running into the hall and knocking people down]?
Cubbie: You're my best friend!
Mr. W.: If I'm you're best friend, why won't you let me in?
Cubbie: 'Cause you're my best friend!
Sad news: Matt Reed won't be able to come home until his time is up in August. He had gotten permission to come sometime in February, but has since joined a new unit that has already used up all their leaves. This is a real disappointment to Ann and I know to Matt as well. Please pray for them all. Arianna will be 9 months old by the time he comes back. :-(
Me: Guess what PHC's mascot is!
J: What? A book??
:P

"Meeting? What meeting?! Noooooo, not tonight!!"
I ran upstair to check my calender. Yup, it said, "Jan. 4 Leaders Meeting."
Note to self: Have someone else check calender to confirm date...
So we drive the 25-30 min. it takes to get there, and as we're driving up the hill to the church, we notice it's kinda dark. Not just kinda, but completely dark except for the youth group that was supposed to be meeting at that time but looked like there was no one there.
My mom pulls out her handy dandy cell phone (I need one of those;-), I pull out our Commander's #, she dials, listens, speaks, listens, speaks a little more, then hangs up. In case you didn't catch it earlier, the meeting was last night!! *groans in remembrance* No, Brooke, I'm a brunette!
Note to self: Call for confirmation before going next time...
