Cannery Row Posted by Hello

Cannery Row is kinda neat to me because my Great-Grandma used to work there. Before WWII, life was very hard for Japanese people. My grandparents weren't even allowed to own a house. It was against the law. A doctor who was a friend of theirs offered to let them use his name as the owner, so they set it up and proceeded to pay for the house. They scrimped and saved and finally finished paying it off only to have it taken away from them because of the carelessness of the doctor--he had forgotten to transfer it to his name. WWII brought on the discrimination and concentration camps that are forgotten as the years go bye. My Grandpa doesn't talk much about what he and his family went through, so each place and story is a special part of my heritage.
