Moo On Down

Yeah, that was this year's theme for the Nevada County Fair. It was actually quite cute. Some little kids had made cow shapes out of wood and had decorated them. The theme picture was a cow with boots and a quilt on with a pig and a chicken on its back. While the weather was very nice for August, it wasn't as crowded as usual. I think it had to do with the weather being in the 100s in Sacramento earlier that week. We just lucked out. The Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) booth was great. We had so many kids come, and quite a few were saved. One man saw lots of people walking around with the Wordless Book bracelets on and came to find out what it was all about. He heard the gospel and accepted Christ as his Savior! It was awesome!! The Hot Spot, Living Well Medical Clinic's food booth, also did great. I worked at the cash register, and we brought in a lot of money. All in all, this was a pretty good fair. I can't wait until next year!
Oh yeah, I decided to go with walking and survived :-)

The gods never answered... Part 4
Our new home hadn't been completed, however, so we couldn't move in immediately. We would have to live temporarily at a military transit camp. The day we moved in, I looked over our new neighborhood and felt very lonely. I was Sunday night and I missed my Christian friends.
Then I heard music--Christian hymns! _It must be angels!_ I thought.
No, they weren't angels, but they sounded like it. I asked someone passing by where the music was coming from, and he told me that a group of Christians met regularly next door.
God's promise to me was true! My mother stared angrily as I ran next door to meet them.
Since that day, God has continued to prove his promise to me. Three months after I found that church, I married the mister, and God has graciously used us the past several years to start others churches among the Indian people in South Africa. Unlike the gods of Hinduism, my God has always loved me.
This is the true story about a dear friend of mine. Years later, she, her husband, and their children moved to the US to escape the apartheid in South Africa. They now have a fruitful ministry in the Bay Area and enjoy their three grandchildren.

The gods never answered... Part 3
The minister read from his Bible: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16)
A God of love? A God who would send his own Son to die for all people--including Hindus? Though I barely understood this amazing God of love, I knew it was true. At the end of the meeting, I bowed my head, prayed for God's forgiveness, and received Christ.
I was afraid, however, that if I told my mother what I had done, I would be punished. So I said nothing and continued to attend the house meetings by convincing my family that I was only helping the blind women get to church.
But my enthusiasm in helping her was so obvious that my mother eventually grew suspicious. "Are you a Christian?" she demanded one day.
"Yes, Mother," I replied, and I continued to answer every question she flung at me. Suddenly I realized I was no longer afraid; I wanted everyone to know that Jesus was my Lord.
My mother was angry and disappointed. She couldn't comprehend what God had done for me. She only knew that she has lost her daughter to a strange Western religion, and that meant persecution from the Indian community--not just toward me, but her as well
"You will never set foot in a Christian church again!" she declared, and I knew she meant it.
My life was torn in two. Indian custom demands parental approval for everything, and defiance is serious offense. But I couldn't forsake Jesus, either, so I persisted in maintaining my Christian relationships.
Yet my mother was just as determined to destroy my faith. To eliminate any Christian influence, she decided to move us to an Indian township populated only by other Hindus and Muslims.
