Randomness

I want some shampoo that smells lemony.

When I was out on the town (yeah right!), I got a cute notebook on clearance. It's from the "Choco-Latte Collection," meaning it's tan, light blue, creamy white, and dark brown. Since when is chocolate or a latte blue?

What to Do?

You ever get the feeling that you're in a free fall that never ends? The "What am I going to do with my life?" question stares you in the face. You see all your friends eagerly pursuing their interests and wonder how come you can't have it all together too. You really want God's best for your life, but what is it? In my own struggles I've come to realize that I do know God's will for me. I might not know all the finer details, but I do His end goal, and He has shown me what I have to do to get there. Did you know that He's done the same for you? Check this out:

"But you, O man of God...pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness." 1 Timothy 6:11

"...Be an example to the believers..." 1 Timothy 4:12

"...Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15

"...love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 12:31

"...desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby." 1 Peter 2:2

"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works." Hebrew 10:24

Hey y'all, these are the basics for godly living! And they are only a sample of the hundreds found in Scripture! No matter where our paths take us, we're to still follow these. None of them are easy, but do you really want to made a difference in our world? More importantly, do you want to follow God? Well then, obey His Word!

Friends, I want to encourage you to try something. When you're reading the Bible, keep track of all of the verses with God's commands for you to follow. Then whenever you feel down and unsure of where to go and what to do, you can look at that list and know that this is God's will for you today, tomorrow, and for the rest of your life! Aren't you glad what we serve a God who doesn't leave us hanging?

Forked Logic

How ironic is this?

Speaking of letters written to Judge Greer,

“"'The tone is very hateful,'” court spokesman Ron Stuart told the Miami Herald. “'People claim to be Christian but the things they are wishing on people are not very Christian sounding.”'"

Wait, is this guy denouncing Christians for not acting like they should? What about Greer himself? He claims to be a Christian then turns around and sentences an innocent woman to death! I agree that these people shouldn't be threatening Greer, but I don't see how you can condemn them and condone him at the same time. They just want to do what he did--kill someone.

"'He may have a personal belief in the right to life,'" lawyer Denis deVlaming, a longtime friend of Greer, told the Miami Herald. 'But he doesn’t have the luxury to allow any of that to enter into his decision.'"

And why doesn't he have the "luxury" to allow "the right to life" to influence his decision? Since when does following the Constitution become impermissable? Yeah, just what I thought, NEVER!

Now why do I feel like I'm on Sesame Street?!

Btw, isn't there a saying that goes like this, "A blog is reflective of its blogger."? Yeah, I thought so. Good thing I'm the one making up the acronym!

Happy B'day Blog!

Wow, I have been blogging for a whole year! How crazy. I went back and read my very first post, and it looks like nothing's changed much...

How should I celebrate? Hmm... Ok, I'm gonna go out on a limb. I will dedicate one whole post to the subject of your choice. Only one topic per person, so choose wisely! You have until the end of the day. :-D I'm waiting to see if I should be scared or not...

Oh wow, I just took a dancing quiz and got 100%... For not dancing, I know way too much! What's this gonna do to my reputation?! ;-)

I'm gonna take it again and put different answers just to make sure it wasn't trying to make me feel good...

Funniness of the day: Things My Sparkies Said Tonight

After winning a race, a little boy proclaimed, "I ran like a Corvette!

When a picture of a church in Zambia was shown, one little kid pipped up and said, "Whoa, I thought that was a jail!"

Another picture of someone carrying a baby was shown and "Aww, how cute!" came out of a little boy's mouth before he could stop it. ;-)

Funniness of the day: While watching a home video of my younger sister playing the violin at a competition, my grandpa asked what song she was playing. She replied, "Beautiful Savior." My grandpa had trouble hearing and said, "What? Beautiful Figure??

They Did It Again!

Patrick Henry College beat Oxford in another moot court tournament. This time in the US. Matthew du Mee and Rayel Papke won with Rayel taking 1st speaker award! Go PHC!!

Keep Praying!

Thanx for everyone who's been praying for my grandpa. At the moment, they've decided against chemo because he's so weak. I'll be spending almost a week with he and my grandma, so please pray that I'll not only have opportunities to witness, but that I'll be brave enough to take those opportunities! Witnessing long distance is so much easier than face to face, but it comes down to how much do I want my grandparents to be saved. Praise God for a Savior that can work miracles!

Yay!!

Florida bill passes 78:37 to save people like Terri Schiavo!

What about socialization?

In America...

Can you believe this?! Terri Schiavo is set to begin starving to death on March 18. What has our nation come to? It's time for Christians to stand up and boldly say this is wrong! Contact your representatives, please take a stand for life!

Wow.

"Marriage is a dance. It is a ball, and in this dance the gentleman bows and the lady curtsies. In doing this, they both submit to the other. They submit differently, but they both submit. This is not a matter of tyranny, but rather is one of the demands of the dance. Those who want to make everything the same want what can only be described as a romantic and erotic ruination. If they both bow, then they would strike their heads. If they both curtsey, that would be creepy. He bows, serving her. She curtsies, serving him. God takes it all, glorifies it, and returns it to them, thirty, sixty, and one hundred-fold." -Doug Wilson

24/7 Weekend

What an incredible weekend! Varsity was so much fun!! Both J and E competed in the Fine Arts Friday competition. J played the piano, and E played the violin. They did so awesome! The Ds came to watch, and we were all bursting with pride. There were funny moments too, like when someone left a pen sitting on the piano, J glissandoed up, hit it, and it went flying! J earned a gold certificate and first place in piano, and E earned a gold certificate and first place in instrumental! Yay my sisters! *beams with sisterly pride* ;-)

Praying Before Bible Quizzing

Bible quizzing was so intense!! After earning first place in the semi-final round, our team went on to compete in the final round. Missing one, for the first time, in paddles, they were in a 3-way tie for third place! Now our team knew every single answer on speed quizzing, but we just weren't fast enough to buzz in before anyone else. To win the tie breaker, you have to the first to earn 40 points...all in speeding quizzing! You got it, UGH! It came down to all three teams only needing one more right to win. The final question was one we all knew since third grade, "What is the definition of grace." Someone buzzed in. We all held our breaths as we waited for the judges to call out the team number. We were so excited when they called our team that one of the girls on stage eeked out a scream, which sent the whole room into laughter. The team let her answer, and we all cheered as we became the third place winners in the final round!! Those girls are so awesome!!

Games: Daniel in the Beanbag Bonanza

Games were fun and sooo stressful! And not just to our voices, though I kinda lost mine for the rest of the day. ;-) Because we were one guy short, we ended up borrowing six different guys throughout the competition! :P One time a guy didn't show up, so I had to run over to another circle, grab the nearest coach, and beg for a guy. Meanwhile our whole circle is standing around watching me 'cause we can't start until our team is ready. :-S Tug-of-war was probably our coolest win. My sister can still say she's never lost! We ended up with third place and got out in the next round at second place. Not too bad for a team that had many interruptions during practice, like the time a guy and girl went all the way across the parking lot to the playground because the girl need to counsel the boy. Yeah...

So the day was beautimous, I got to see Heather, we cheered her game team on to second place in the finals, and my only regret is not getting a team pic! :'( Our team got really creative with our t-shirts too! Some examples of our numbers are 7.5, 11 1/8, infinity squared, etc. *sigh* Oh well. A three hour nap on Sunday almost made up for it. So, here ya go, Michelle! ;-)

Whew!

"Mike Bibby had ARCO Arena rocking at game's end."

With only 11 points in the fourth quarter, Kings barely pull off a win. Over in Philadelphia, Webber's playing time is down and gets booed by fans.

Wednesday, March 02, 2005

Hey y'all, one of my friends, Zac, was taken to the hospital via an ambulance today after a seizure. Please pray everything will be alright!!

EDIT: He's back and seems to be doing ok. Praise the Lord!

Surprise, Surprise!

A really good article about PHC!

Be sure to send them a comment!!

The BBC program about PHC will air tomorrow at 3:00 am PST, though it might just be easier to go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio4, click "Listen Again," and choose "Crossing Continents."

Tuesday and Wednesday, CNN was on-campus recording, and their taping can be seen on "Inside Politics" this Friday at 12:30 pm PST. Supposedly it will be shown again throughout the weekend on other programs.

Whew, at least you can't say PHC is boring!

EDIT: CNN postponed the PHC story. I'll let y'all know when it's rescheduled.

Coming Soon to a Top Ten List Near You!

Brooke and I are going to write a book! Well, actually we already have! It's called "bob says hi." All we need is some pictures and a publisher. I'll let y'all know when it's out!

"The court's general test for whether to allow such a symbol [as the Ten Commandments] on public property was devised by Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. It asks whether a 'reasonable observer' would believe from the display that government was supporting religion. If so, according to the test, the display should not be allowed."
