Though you can't really see them, there is a post and picture for each person who has died in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Walking through there was a proud, but sad moment. Proud because each person had given up all they had to preserve our freedom. Very sad because of a certain post out in front. This young man didn't die in combat, an accident, operation, or even because of the living conditions. He had died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. My first reaction was anger and disgust. A person like that among all those brave soldiers! He doesn't deserve this! Now I can only pity him. Was it worth it? Is life better now?
I am so thankful that I have a God who loves me and will carry me through hard times. I can hold fast to the promise that He will never put me through anything I can't handle. I have no excuse! I must live as a brave soldier of Christ or die trying!
