I had an awesome day! My sisters and I went to the Awana Leaders' Conference in Reno. We weren't sure if we'd make it 'cause of a possible snowstorm, but the weather up there was better than here. The theme was "A Window of Opportunity." Dave Pearson was the special speaker this year. He flew in from Chicago just for us! He started out with stories of kids who have attended his Awana and how they and their families' lives had been changed. Then he spoke about a couple of the leaders there. He described and 84 year old man who told the Sparkies (K-2nd grade) that who ever completed a certain amount in their books would get to go to the zoo. Seventy-seven did! He got his wife, son, and his son's family to help him as he rented coaches to take all the kids to the zoo where he bought them all tickets and lunch. Dave Pearson also told us about an elderly lady who always had all the girls over to her house in October to bake cookies. After telling us about these two people, he told us they were his father and his mother. What an awesome testimony! Pastor Simmons was there and the three classes of his that I went to were great! I got to see Patti Lappin whom I haven't seen in 7 years. Her class on prayer was sooooo good! I came back refreshed, encouraged, and ready to go! As April says, "Bring it on!"
