The Monarchs Game

The Sacramento Monarchs' game was soooo good!! My dad got off work early so we could get there in time, and we picked up dinner on the way down. Arco is such a great place! I don't know why they want a new arena (though they say the ice machine has problems *rolls eyes*)!! The Monarchs were playing against the Seattle Storm after beating the Los Angeles Sparks 2:1. W00t! Pompons of purple and silver were handed out when we walked into Arco and there were lots of flares as they introduced the starters. They totally get you in the mood. The first part of the game was boring. We were down by 14 points at times!! But by the second half, something had changed. They were starting to play real basketball! Plays were happening, balls were stolen, fouls were committed, and free throws were made! Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird were tough to beat. Bird was the number one draft pick--that says it all--and Lauren Jackson is tall player that can really rebound and shoot! By the end of regulation game time, the teams were tied at 65! Overtime was great with the teams going tit for tat. It all came down to the final steal by Ticha and the basket by Walker. Everyone held their breath as the ball went around and around the hoop, almost stopping at one point, then finally dropping in! The crowd went wild! Gavin Maloof jumped out of his seat and ran onto the court. The only ones who didn't stay to celebrate were Mike Bibby and Chris Webber. The quietly left by the team's entrance before they could get mobbed. It was fun driving home with cars honking all around you. Man, I never knew there were so many different types of horn sounds!:P Ice Cream at McDonalds, then all aboard for the ride home.
